New Addition

 

Hi folks, yes, it's me after many months. I had to take just a minute to tell you about my new addition! Of course, if you haven't forgotten about me entirely, and have been visiting my website Soothing Waters Bath & Gifts or Facebook Page, you already know. :-) For which I thank you!  If not, please stop by. I'm happy to tell you that I am now also a rep for MICHE. If you haven't heard about these amazing quick change bags, please CLICK HERE. But, the photo on the right, is the concept in a nutshell...cool, eh??!!! You never have to dump out your purse again, just change the outside!! There are 4 bag sizes to choose from. Soap of the Month - NEW!

What are Emollients?

Emollients are often called moisturizers. They are lotions, creams, ointments and bath/shower additives which 'oil' the skin to keep it moist. Regular use of emollients helps keep your skin soft and supple, and is especially beneficial for people with dry or problematic skin.

What types of emollients are there?

There are many types and brands of emollients ranging from runny lotions to thick ointments. The difference between lotions, creams and ointments is the proportion of lipid (oil) to water. The lipid content is lowest in lotions, intermediate in creams, and highest in ointments. The higher the lipid content, the greasier and stickier it feels, and the shinier it looks on the skin. As a general rule, the higher the lipid content (the more greasy and thick the emollient), the better and longer it works, but the messier it is to use.

It's generally best to find products that do not contain parabens or other types of synthetics preservatives, which may cause a reaction in themselves. How to use your Cricut Cake

I read a lot of debate about whether to spend the money on a Cricut Cake machine. First of all, I'm a bargain hunter, I will never pay full price for anything, if I can help it. I got mine half off and brand new from eBay. But they are selling quite reasonable at many places now. 

I don't use my Cricut for every cake, but when I do use it, I love it! You can do some really cool things!! (i.e. my laundry explosion cake above).Yes you do have to play around to get the technique right (if you wanna call it a technique), but isn't that with anything? The paper cutting Cricut, same thing, practice makes perfect. I believe I have a system, that so far has worked for me when cutting fondant or gumpaste using my CC. I've made this video showing how I cut the sentiment "With Sympathy" in the 2nd try! (fyi- I don't like re-doing things over and over either).
